Hisarbeyli (Yoğurtyurdu) Plateau

0.0 · 0 reviews
Hisarbeyli Plateau, popularly also called Yoğurtyurdu ("Home of Yogurt") Plateau, lies within the Akdağ Forests. The Hasbek–Hisarbeyli–Akdağmadeni road passes through it, and a sizeable stream flows between two hills at its center, giving the area a lively character. One slope of the hill is covered in pine forest while the other carries lower scrub vegetation; the plateau serves as the traditional summer pasture for the villagers of Hasbek and Hisarbeyli, who bring their livestock here each year. The region has numerous cold spring water sources and — living up to its name — is well known for its distinctively flavored local yogurt. Located near the village of Hisarbeyli (officially Hisarbey today) in Sarıkaya district, the plateau benefits from the cool climate of the Akdağ range and holds significance for both traditional livestock herding and highland tourism. Sitting in the transitional zone between Yozgat's Akdağmadeni and Sarıkaya districts, it is easily reached from either direction. With its unspoiled scenery and cool streamside setting, Hisarbeyli represents one of the characteristic highland villages found along the foothills of Akdağ, within the broader Bozok Plateau region.
