The Karadikmen Monumental Oak is a massive, approximately 554-year-old oak tree standing in Karadikmen village, part of Yozgat's Akdağmadeni district. Its age was scientifically determined in 2007 by the General Directorate for Protection of Natural Assets, under what was then the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and the tree was subsequently granted official “monumental tree” protected status. Having stood rooted in the same ground for close to five centuries, the oak carries weight beyond its botanical significance — it is deeply woven into the village's collective memory and cultural identity, having witnessed generations of stories, holiday gatherings and community moments in its shade. Local press has captured the villagers' devotion to the tree with the phrase “generations have changed, it has not.” Since Akdağmadeni district is also known for other natural attractions such as Kadıpınarı Nature Park, visitors to Karadikmen can easily combine a stop at the oak with other nearby destinations. The village is reached via local roads from the Akdağmadeni district center, and the tree's massive trunk and sprawling canopy make it the village's most striking natural landmark.
