Kabalı Fruit Orchard

Kabalı Fruit Orchard is a massive 5,600-decare orchard in Kabalı village, Kadışehri district, created in 2009 under the “Deveci Basin Fruit Growing Integration Project” by merging roughly 850 to 1,800 individually owned land parcels. Established more than 14 years ago through cooperation between government, the private sector and local villagers, the orchard was planted with apple, pear, peach and cherry saplings. Today, production covers about 5,000 decares, including 2,800 decares of semi-dwarf apple trees, 1,050 decares of cherry, 680 decares of peach and nectarine, and 180 decares of full-dwarf apple. Under the project, the combined land was leased to a company for 25 years, allowing villagers to earn rental income from their land while also finding employment as orchard workers. This model has turned Kabalı — often cited as one of Turkey's largest fruit gardens — into a showcase example of rural development and job creation. In spring, thousands of fruit trees blossom simultaneously, blanketing the area in pink and white; by late summer, the cherry and apple harvests bring the orchard to life with intense seasonal activity. Offering striking scenery during both the blossom season and the harvest, Kabalı Fruit Orchard is a notable stop for travelers interested in agritourism in Yozgat.
