Kemer Bridge

Kemer Bridge is a historic stone bridge located at the 7th kilometer of Atatürk Boulevard, within the campus of Bozok University. According to the official plaque mounted on the bridge, it was built of yellow cut stone with two arches in the Islamic year 1310 (1894–1895 CE), during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II; it measures 4.5 meters wide and 28.05 meters long, and was repaired in 2011 by the General Directorate of Highways. The arches are of the depressed (segmental) type, and where they meet, both facades feature a semicircular, cone-topped bridge cutwater. The arch spans measure roughly 5 meters, topped by an interlocking cut-stone parapet wall, some of whose blocks have fallen into the streambed over time. On the west facade, in the recess above the cutwater, the bridge's original inscription plaque has been found to be missing from its place. Generally in sound condition, the bridge now lies within the boundaries of Bozok University's Erdoğan Akdağ Campus, making it a historic landscape feature of the university grounds. Together with the nearby Tek Kemerli Köprü (Single-Arch Bridge), also within the same campus, it presents two important examples of late 19th-century Ottoman road-bridge engineering in Yozgat.
