Muteber Divanlıoğlu Mansion

The Muteber Divanlıoğlu Mansion stands at the intersection of Kurtuluş and Kuyulu Çeşme streets in Yozgat's central İstanbulluoğlu neighborhood. Built as a two-storey house, it has an outbuilding and a shaded area in its garden. The door and window frames are wooden, under a wooden hip roof, with metal grilles fitted to the windows; the upper-floor windows follow a 1:1 proportion while the ground-floor windows follow 1:2. On the ground floor, two rooms overlooking the garden flank the entrance, with a kitchen connected to the room on the left. A wooden staircase leads from the ground floor to the first floor, where a room sits on either side of a central sofa (hall) linked by a bay window, its ceiling finished in decorative woodwork. The room on the left (as one ascends the stairs) has a decoratively carved wooden ceiling and contains a built-in wooden-doored cupboard (yüklük) and a şerbetlik (a traditional recessed cabinet for serving sherbet); the room on the right has a plainer wooden ceiling but similarly retains its own built-in cupboard and şerbetlik. Preserving the traditional hall-and-room layout, bay-window arrangement, and original interior fittings characteristic of Yozgat's residential architecture, the Muteber Divanlıoğlu Mansion forms part of the dense fabric of historic Ottoman houses — alongside others such as the Hayri İnal and Salim Korkmaz mansions — that still defines the İstanbulluoğlu neighborhood today.
