Koşa Bridge

Koşa Bridge is a historic stone bridge over the Aksu River, standing along Hükümet Street in Yozgat's Şefaatli district. Including its pedestrian walkway, the bridge is 7.40 meters wide, 35.20 meters long, and 5.20 meters high, with three arches. Records show that the third (southernmost) arch was rebuilt in reinforced concrete sometime in the 1965–1970 period; during a municipal repair in May 1989, this concrete section was clad in stone to restore visual consistency with the rest of the bridge. Two cutwaters project from the bridge's west side, and its pedestrian deck is finished in concrete. On the west facade, between the arches, a three-line inscription in old Ottoman script survives. Located in the Şefaatli town center, within walking distance of the district's historic railway station building, the bridge functions both as a working piece of transport infrastructure and as part of a short historical walking route through town. As a living example of Ottoman-era stone bridge engineering that has undergone repairs over time while remaining in continuous use, Koşa Bridge still carries both vehicle and pedestrian traffic today.
