Railway Station Building

The Şefaatli Railway Station Building stands in the Yaylapınar neighborhood of Yozgat's Şefaatli district. Comprising a basement, ground floor and one upper floor, it is a typical Turkish State Railways (TCDD) station building erected as part of the Republican-era expansion of the Ankara–Sivas line, itself an extension of the earlier Anatolian–Baghdad Railway network. The building has two doors on its east and west sides leading to the warehouse section, one opening into the waiting room, and two more opening into the stationmaster's office. Ground-floor windows are pointed-arched, while the upper-floor windows are rectangular. The hipped roof is covered in tile. With its yellow-painted facade and red-tiled roof, the building is a classic example of an early Republican-era TCDD station house, and today remains in active use as a working railway station, marked by its "ŞEFAATLİ" signage. Its wooden waiting-room benches and platform layout still evoke the railway travel culture of its era. Şefaatli's position on the Ankara–Sivas railway line played an important role in the district's economic and social development in the early 20th century, and the station building stands today as a tangible representative of that transport-infrastructure legacy. Together with the nearby historic Koşa Bridge, it forms part of a short heritage walking route through the Şefaatli town center.
