Tuzla Bridge

Tuzla Bridge is a historic stone bridge located in Sekili township, part of Yozgat's Yerköy district. The bridge consists of four pointed arches of graduated size, the tallest at the center and progressively smaller toward each riverbank. The entire structure is built of cut stone, with parapet walls of the same finely dressed stone running along both sides at deck level. The varying arch heights not only strengthen the bridge's load-bearing capacity but also allow it to better accommodate the river's seasonal fluctuations in water flow. Spanning a river within the boundaries of Sekili township, the bridge remains in active use for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic today, representing one of the region's still-functioning examples of historic stone bridge engineering. Its asymmetrical yet balanced design, composed of four arches of differing sizes, makes it a technically more complex structure than Yozgat's other single- or double-arched Ottoman-era bridges, such as Kemer Bridge or Karabıyık Bridge. As an important surviving piece of historic transport infrastructure in rural Yerköy district, Tuzla Bridge is a notable stop for those tracing the region's old caravan and trade routes.
