Sarıkaya: 2000 Years of Healing Waters

A short but lastingly memorable route — a pair of stops just a few steps apart that anyone visiting Sarıkaya can easily complete within the same day. First, stop by the Sarıkaya Roman Bath (known locally as Kral Kızı Hamamı, the "King's Daughter's Bath") — one of the rare Roman-era thermal structures to survive to the present day in Anatolia, with its 2nd-century CE ten-arched marble facade. Added to UNESCO's World Heritage Tentative List in 2018, the moss-green thermal pool in front of these ruins is best photographed in the morning light before noon. After touring the ruins, head right next door to Sarıkaya Thermal Springs to experience the true power of the water — this modern facility, fed by the same source, is used as a supportive treatment for rheumatic conditions and skin problems. Don't forget to bring a swimsuit and towel; the facility has separate sections for men and women, and accommodation is available as well. Although Sarıkaya is a bit far from Yozgat center (about 80 km), it can be combined within the same day with another route — for example, the ancient-cities tour in Sorgun — since the two districts are close to each other.
